263,520 minutes = 4,392 hours = 183 days = 6 months
I remember when I first started this journey on 4/30/09, I daydreamed about writing this very post. I wanted the title to say, “1/2 of a year, and 1/2 way to goal!” I wanted to lose 50 pounds by today.
I didn’t do it.
Instead, as of this morning, I weigh 215.6, a loss of 2.1 pounds this week, and 31.6 pounds lighter than what I weighed on April 30th.
And I am so very happy with that!
Did you know that according to my husband, I no longer snore when I’m sleeping? I used to be so embarrassed about my snoring. I knew it was because I was fat, so I would apologize profusely anytime I was sleeping in a room with someone other than my husband. Now, my husband told me the other night I was so quiet he thought I was dead (and he insisted that it was not wishful thinking)!
Did you know that I am officially out of plus-sized clothes? I went shopping at Macy’s last week, and everything I bought was from the Misses section – including a pair of size 16 cords. I haven’t worn size 16 pants in 6 years.
Did you know that I haven’t had problems with my asthma in over 2 months? This is typically my worst time of year. The cold air and moldy leaves are the worst for my allergy-induced asthma. I haven’t had to use my rescue inhaler in about 2 months – I can’t remember the last time I went this long without having to use it.
Did you know that at the gym Wednesday night I walked faster and harder than I ever have in my life? I really, really pushed myself – I was nervous, a little bit scared, and very sweaty. But I did it! I cannot believe how far my body has come in the past 6 months.
So while I’m not 1/2 way to my goal yet, I am soooo far ahead of where I was 6 months ago. I’ve battled weddings, pregnancy scares/hopefulness, extreme stress, and lots of birthday parties… and I survived. I write this today as a woman who has her eye on the prize. Not to be 100 pounds lighter than I was in April (although that will be awesome!), but to be the best, strongest, most confident woman I can be.
Progress pictures and measurements to come on Monday – I just didn’t get time to do them yesterday.

Fantastic Jen
YOu must be feeling so proud of yourself.
My hubby also said I dont snore anymore?? So seems when you overweight this happens.
You are on your way to success…remember xmas and new year around the corner, start getting yourself prepared for that period.
We going away for New Year and I have said I want to stay in a hotel with a gym…I want to train as often as still possible over that period…as I know I will be eating and drinking more. We going to celebrate NY in Berlin where they have this huge party at the Brandenburger Tor, where the famous Berlin wall came down.
This is just fantastic!!! HUGE CONGRATS to you on your progress and all the improvements that you've seen!! It's truly inspiring and I'm so happy for you! :)
Linds
You are doing fantastic! And look how healthy you are becoming :)
Jenn, crazy! You and I are practically in the same boat. Timeline and all. I hit six months yesterday and lost almost the same amount of weight.
Excellent Work Jenn! It's truly about the health in the long run :)
So much to be happy and proud of, Jenn! Great job!!!!
Fabulous Jenn – just fabulous!
You're awesome! 36 pounds is a great weight loss for six months. My good friend that happens to be a personal trainer compares weight loss to cubes of butter. 4 cubes of butter equals 1 lbs. So, in his words, "imagine that you've lost 144 cubes of butter off your body" Makes it sound like a lot.
Many of the most rewarding accomplishments on this journey have nothing whatsoever to do with the scale. Way to go, Jenn!
You excitement is so evident! I'm very happy for you. Congratulations big time!
What an uplifting post! It put a huge smile on my face as I was reading it. What fabulous achievements!
**applauds madly **
It's amazing how much we grow along the way isn't it. :) Congrats for making it this far and staying so strong. i can't wait to read as your journey moves ahead!!! :):):)
Those are exciting changes! Especially the asthma being under control. By the way it works out to 1.31 lbs. per week and that is a good pace
Oh and look you almost have 200 followers! You inspire us Jenn!
Way to go!!! I'm so glad you are focusing on the positive things you have gained by losing those 31.6 pounds!! Just think of how much further ahead you will be in another 6 months!
Have a great weekend (remember to turn the clocks back Sat night)
That is terrific! It is a long journey, but when you stop focusing on just the number on the scale you can really, really see progress!
Wow, Jenn & Kat, so happy and proud of you! Jenn, I almost felt teary reading your post..bc I am on same journey and I know.
Pastaqueen, (Jennette Fulda) did a post about "saying goodbye to Lane Bryant" something like that I think. It is kind of a weird place to be mentally…saying goodbye forever to the plus stores & depts that we have frequented for so long.
Proud of you girl.
Jen – I am sooo proud of you! :)

Way to go! Losing weight in a healthy way by making it a lifestyle change is really the way to go.
You are doing an AWESOME job! You are losing it the slow, steady, HEALTHY way! Congrats on the new sizes, the ceasing of snoring (I was so glad when my hubby lost the weight and the snoring, too!), pushing yourself and all of your healthy habits. Can't wait to see your new photos.
BRAVO! To you.
I totally look forward to my suspected sleep apnea getting better when I lose some weight. And who wouldn't want to be put of plus size clothing. I can't wait to be where you are.
